Atlassian Application Administrator (Mid-Level)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated, flexible, organized, and detail-oriented JIRA Administrator to join our team. You will be responsible to handle one or multiple clients’ Atlassian support and administrative needs, developing a value-driven, collaborative, trusting relationships.

Clients will come from both within and outside of India, so communication skills, and individual initiative is important. We ask candidate be open to flexible work hours (day/night shifts), but candidates are encouraged to share preference.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, configures, maintains, and enhances the Atlassian systems
  • Ensure systems are stable and available, with user issues addressed in a timely manner.
  • Strong focus on JIRA Administration involving custom projects, workflows, fields, dashboards and reports configurations
  • Administer JIRA and Confluence instances on a day to day basis including performance tuning/scaling.
  • Guide and maintain the organization of data in Confluence
  • Utilizes Bitbucket and Bamboo to help the team with all release and configuration related tasks around software builds into preproduction and production environments
  • User Management, Manages system access across groups to ensure compliance and maintain best practice
  • Proficiency with Data migration using scripts
  • Programming skills outside of these tools is not needed, but candidates with any additional development skills will have high preference.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline; or Master’s degree.
  • 4+ years’ experience as JIRA Administrator with experience customizing JIRA projects with various schemas, complex workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, and notification schemes required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ hands-on experience working with the Atlassian product suite, with specific focus on JIRA as a Project/Application Administrator.
  • Expert level Atlassian tool administration knowledge on JIRA and Confluence (equal knowledge of Bitbucket/Bamboo a plus)
  • Ability to construct custom dashboards using various filter types in JIRA, a must.
  • Ability to construct Confluence pages and integrate JIRA projects with Confluence pages, a must.
  • LDAP integration experience.
  • High preference for candidates with experience in Tempo, Insight, ScriptRunner, Structure, easyBI, JIRA Misc Workflow Extensions, Git Integration, Zephyr and other top plugins.
  • Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL Database administration skills are preferred.
  • Ability to write custom JQL (Jira Query Language), a plus.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic agile environment.
  • Must have strong work ethic with good time management skills.

Job Summary

Advances DevOps/RunOps practices throughout the organization by supporting and enhancing JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo/Jenkins applications.  A solid technical foundation in Linux and the software development lifecycle is valued as well. Direct experience with the applications is desired, along with working knowledge of Agile development, REST services, Java and shell, Continuous Integration (CI), and application troubleshooting in a distributed, complex environment.

Writes code and scripts that provide desired functionality to system solutions, products and/or programs. Develops systems solutions of basic to intermediate complexity, for all or a component part of an assigned area. Develops, codes, tests, debugs, and documents systems to achieve the objectives of the client group relative to identified system needs, which may be new, replacement of existing systems, or significant modifications of existing software modules. Implements activities that impact discrete components of the functional area. Work is received in short term assignments that require application of independent judgment. Operates within the context of defined procedures.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Applies proven development methodologies, hardware characteristics, and other technologies to produce comprehensive solutions, within the agreed quality, service commitment levels, schedules and budgets for the assigned space. Makes recommendations on proposed solutions.
  • Performs and implements daily operational activities that generally impact discrete components / processes of the technology function, including but not limited to writing code and scripts that provide desired functionality to the web-based software sites, products and programs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with software programming languages and coding standards.
  • Knowledge of standard test tools and the testing processes.
  • Knowledge of SDLC / SW development processed, such as RUP, Agile, and/or Waterfall
  • Experience using analytical skills, tools and techniques to investigate information and to draw conclusions.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT, IS, Mathematics or related filed.
